About us

Le Verre Gourmand SARL is a wine wholesale business based in the French Alps, owned by Roch Braillon and Sam Owens.

Sam (British) was a chalet owner/operator in Chamonix, Roch (French) a wine producer in the South of France. "Hmm, wouldn't it be good to combine our respective backgrounds and nationalities to supply Brit-friendly French wines to the chalet operators in the Alps?", we thought back in 2006...

Today, we have 100+ happy clients of all sizes and ranging from the budget end to the top of the market. We also have clients elsewhere in France, in the UK, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.

Our wines

We choose wines that will suit the typical international palate (fruitier, softer, fresher), work in a chalet situation (flexible with/without food) and give exceptional value for money.

Many come from independent producers who already sell successfully to the UK and other international markets. Most are from France's classic regions, with a growing range of New World and other European wines. As well as what's inside the bottle, we take presentation into account: a cheesy label or bottle on the table isn't great for your image.

Our clients

Chalet operators represent the core of our business. We help you to select a range of chalet wines to suit your budget and preferences, whether you want easy everyday quaffers, Champagne and other fizz, upgrade a la carte options - you tell us and we'll help you get there.

We deliver at least weekly to most major French resorts during the winter season and once a month through summer. We also deliver several times a season to resorts in Switzerland, Austria and Italy. Jane Williams manages the logistics side of the business.
